Trainer/Assessor Details

Practical Activities

This assessment is designed to assist you in the development of the knowledge required to competently operate a forklift truck. This is NOT your Final Assessment. This assessment has been designed to:

  • Allow you and your trainer decide if you are ready the theory component of your Final Assessment
  • Prepare you for the Final Assessment (with a Safe Work NSW Assessor)
  • Provide evidence of your learning and knowledge prior to undertaking your Final Assessment

Other assessments and evidence building activities in your course may include

  • A Student Workbook – this is more a learning tool but is good evidence of your participation
  • A Practical Practice Test (like this assessment, this prepares you for final practical assessment)
  • A log Book submission (with or without video evidence)
  • Other as required

Your Final Assessment is conducted by an assessor approved by the Safety Regulator in your state. This is made up of a Theory, Practical and Calculation component – this course and all the assessments during training are designed to assist you to pass this Final Assessment!

Practice Assessment Instructions

Time Allocated

If you are doing this assessment in the classroom - You will be given 1 hour to complete this assessment as a closed book exam. Cheating will not benefit you as you will not be able to pass your Final assessment if you cannot Satisfactorily complete this assessment. Please note that passing this practice test is no guarantee that you will pass the theory component of your Final assessment, further study may be required.

If you are doing this at home, online or away from your trainer - Your trainer will provide you with instructions. Ideally you should undertake this practice assessment after attending training, studying and by not referring to your notes. You should also set yourself a time limit of 1 hour in order to prepare adequately for your Final Assessment. If you are doing it away from the direct observation of your trainer a further “Challenge Assessment” may be conducted to ensure the work submitted is your own!

Marking and Results of this assessment

This assessment will be marked by your trainer. You will receive feedback about your performance in the assessment from your trainer:

  • During your attendance (if attending full face to face classes)
  • By email or when you attend the training centre if you are completing part of this course away from the training centre and your trainer.

You will receive one of the following results:

  • Satisfactory – achieving this result and meeting all other course requirements will mean that you have met the requirements of the course, and that you may be ready for your Final licence assessment with some additional study prior to your assessment. As a guide you will have to achieve a result of 80% in order to achieve this outcome.
  • Not Yet Satisfactory – achieving this result for this test will mean that you will be required to re attempt this assessment As a guide a result of 60 - 80% will result in this outcome. Re-attempt may be rescheduled for another date to allow for study before re-attempting. If you are undertaking the course away from the training centre then you may be provided with another attempt or requested to attend the training centre for this.
  • Needs Further Training – achieving this result for this test will mean that you will be required to re-attend training (up to 1 day at the training centre or where you did your original learning) by a re- test (takes up to 1 hour and a small retest fee applies) prior to further study and then your Final assessment. As a guide a result of below 60% will result in this outcome.

Your trainer will mark your test and may follow this with verbal clarification (during class , when you meet or by phone) if required (in case you can improve your answer with limited assistance of the trainer)

Appeals and Complaints

If you disagree with your trainers marking of your test, then you may request a review of your test paper. Please refer to your Student Handbook for further information about appeals or contact your trainer or the training centre.

Reasonable Adjustments

If you require adjustments to this test, then please discuss this with your trainer before commencing the test. Examples include undertaking this test verbally instead of in writing. Other adjustments may be possible.
